Story Line: The writer and creator of the drama, Ben Richards, has offered some insight into how his team were looking to the future of the series. “Funnily enough, one of the crises before pre-Covid that we considered was a pandemic but I thought it might be a bit boring,” he told press, including Express. Johnny continues to strive to train his Cobra Kai students, but his methods continue to be contentious and conflict with contemporary values. He is adamant that he will keep his hard-hitting, "strike first" ethos, and he challenges his students more than ever before. In this episode, Johnny concentrates on building Cobra Kai more powerfully, and the class intensifies as he doubles down on his methods. Yet, Johnny's failure to adapt and recognize the needs of his students becomes more apparent. He is still stuck in his past, still holding on to the notion that aggression and toughness are the ingredients for success. His relationship with his students, especially Miguel, only deepens, although Johnny's tough love does have some unintended repercussions. Miguel and Samantha's relationship is more strained as Miguel gets more and more entrenched in the way of thinking of Cobra Kai. Miguel's change is more evident, and his actions, guided by Johnny's instruction, are driving Samantha away. Their relationship is severely tested, and they cannot find common ground between their two opposing philosophies on karate and life. Samantha is torn. She remains drawn to Miguel yet is repulsed by his brutal and ruthless attitude as he adopts Cobra Kai's philosophy. This is a key moment in their relationship, as their emotional distance starts to develop. Daniel is concentrating more on establishing his Miyagi-Do dojo, which is based on the philosophies of equilibrium, patience, and self-defense. In this episode, Daniel continues to develop his own way of teaching and begins to attract followers to his dojo. His teaching is a far cry from Johnny's Cobra Kai style, and Daniel is committed to teaching humility and respect to his students. Robby still works at Daniel's automobile dealership and is becoming more entrenched in Miyagi-Do. His relationship with Daniel strengthens as he starts to grasp the meaning of the martial arts philosophy Daniel instructs. Robby remains emotionally remote from his father, Johnny, but Daniel's guidance gives him a sense of direction.
