Story Line: Peer pressure, pride, and greed put Sotonye’s marriage plans in jeopardy. "The Mask" is a 1979 Nigerian movie written and directed by Eddie Ugbomah. The story is a retelling of the history of the 1897 Benin Expedition when British troops pillaged artifacts in the Benin Kingdom. Obi (Ugbomah), the lead character in the film, carries out a suicidal mission to retrieve a stolen ivory mask and get it back to Nigeria. The Obi character has been compared to the British MI6 officer James Bond.
