Story Line: Riley Flynn returns home to family disfunction ,familiar faces and a new priest at St. Patrick's. Elsewhere on the island, a dark storm is steadily brewing. The film tells the tale of Riley Flynn, a man who comes back to his hometown after serving time in prison for a fatal drunk-driving accident that resulted in the death of a young woman. Now tormented by visions and guilt over the victim, Riley has a hard time readjusting to life on the island, where his religious mother greets him home but his cynical father keeps his distance. The spiritual head of the island, Monsignor Pruitt, has been absent on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, but in his place, a new priest, Father Paul Hill, comes, alleging that Monsignor Pruitt is recuperating on the mainland. Father Paul becomes the new master of St. Patrick's Church, and there is a charismatic presence that attracts and disturbs the islanders.
