Story Line: Karen sings and plays the trumpet in a vigorous rock band in Brasilia, but no one there is interested in it. At 27, she has lost hope in the city her grandfather helped to build. "We Still Have the Deep Black Night" (original title: "Ainda Temos a Imensidão da Noite") is a 2019 drama film by Gustavo Galvão. The movie is about Karen, a 27-year-old singer and trumpeter in a rock band based in Brasília who is having trouble finding an audience in a more conservative city. She is disillusioned and joins her former bandmate Artur in Berlin in hopes of finding new opportunities. Yet, unexpected circumstances force her back to Brasília, where she is forced to reestablish herself in a still-evolving city. The cast also features Ayla Gresta as Karen, Gustavo Halfeld as Artur, and Steven Lange as Martin. The film has been awarded for its success, taking Best Cinematography (André Carvalheira) and Best Editing (Marcius Barbieri) at the 52nd Brasília Film Festival in 2019.
