Story Line: Erin turns to Riley after receiving upsetting news. Father Paul starts experiencing disturbing side effects. Bev makes a startling discovery. Father Paul's vampirism is discovered when Joe Collie comes to see him at the rec center. In a fit of uncontrollable hunger, Paul kills Joe. Horrified and overcome with guilt, Paul asks for forgiveness. Bev Keane, finding the body, callously covers up the murder, assuring Paul that it was "God's will." Sarah Gunning senses something strange about her old mother, Mildred. Mildred, who was frail and demented before, now seems stronger and more alert. This suggests that she may have been influenced by the supernatural occurrences on the island. Father Paul starts to exhibit signs of illness while delivering a fervent sermon. His words become disjointed, and then he falls in front of the congregation. Seconds later, he is dead—only to come back to life shortly thereafter, frightening those who see it. Riley Flynn, already suspicious of the church's bizarre occurrences, is more and more worried. His fear is compounded when he finds that Joe Collie has vanished mysteriously.
