Story Line: Sora is a high school student, but feels virtually invisible at school. His friend, Chuya, does unpredictable and surprising things and has a completely different personality than Sora, but they both like the same girl, Kio. Sōra is a high school student who is basically invisible at school. He is friends with Chūya, who is an unpredictable character that often surprises those around him. Sōra and Chūya both have feelings for the same classmate, Kio Machida. The Machida girl refuses to come to class, because she doesn't want to dye her naturally brown hair black. Their school has unreasonable school rules, especially about uniforms, which include requiring all students to have black hair. Sōra and Chūya decide to stand up to change their school's black school rules so that Machida won’t have to repeat a year of school from missing too many classes. "Black School Rules" (2019) is a dark and intense drama about a high school that is terrorized by an authoritative set of rules imposed by the students themselves. Here, the senior students have enormous power and mete out very harsh punishments to anyone violating their rules. The protagonist, a recently transfer student, is entangled in this volatile battle for power when she's embedded in the venomous climate of the school. The film illustrates the means by which violence, manipulation, and terror enforce the school social hierarchy. Through her struggles to belong and persevere, she discovers the macabre nature of the violent system perpetuated by the school, bringing herself face to face with authority figures. The film examines the psychological cost of being in such an oppressive atmosphere, how they respond to fear, peer pressure, and their own ambitions for power.
