Story Line: Retired CIA agent Robert Carter Michaels and his son Paul have committed themselves to rebuilding their relationship after their epic last encounter spent protecting the highly secure secret base: the Fortress.Fortress: Sniper's Eye is not a great film. It is not even a great straight-to-Digital. In fact, major spoiler alert: unless you have reached that stage of the evening where you are flicking drunkenly between channels in the hope of something, anything to entertain, while simultaneously picking bits of mayonnaise-flecked kebab out of your lap and wondering what that other stain on your couch was caused by…this is not for you.

While Bruce Willis provides the star power in this Fortress sequel, it is Chad Michael Murray who steals the show with his performance. Murray embraces an over-the-top nature approach to his villain role this time around and to me, this is one of his most enjoyable efforts. He makes even basic lines seem melodramatic or even hilarious, as he dials up his turn and really goes for broke. I wish he would have gone this wild in the first movie, as he really adds so much to Sniper’s Eye and raises the entertainment value a lot. A fun villain can really tilt the scales in an otherwise forgettable movie and that’s certainly the case here, as Murray’s performance alone makes this sequel worth a look.

Willis has a decent amount of screen time but isn’t given much to do, so he spends a fair amount of time lying in a bed eating oatmeal. Still, he is charismatic as always and I just like seeing him in action, so I think his fans will appreciate his scenes. The cast also includes Jesse Metcalfe, Kelly Greyson, Ser’Darius Blain, and Natali Yura. It's an uneven movie, with the first third (boredom meant I had one eye very much fixed on the clock) devoted to family reunions and chitchat. Several characters are introduced who might easily have been pruned with no damage done to the underlying plot. Then, from nowhere, the bad guys turn up, shoot the extras, and take over the Fortress. It is never adequately explained why it is so named – or how come a structure with such an impressive title is so simply over-run.
