Story Line: In July 2017, an experienced outdoor enthusiast vanished in Northern Nevada while on an outdoor excursion. After an extensive search, he was never located. On the three-year anniversary of his disappearance, friends and loved ones recall the events leading up to his vanishing, and for the first time, speak about the horrifying conclusion of his fate.

Friends and loved ones gather to recall the events leading to an experienced outdoor enthusiast's disappearance in northern Nevada. I recently came across Horror in the High Desert and with the over influx of found-footage films, I admittedly didn’t have high expectations for it. I didn’t know what to think outside of hoping to extract some entertainment value from the cinematic version of a deep-cut on Amazon Prime. You can imagine my surprise when I found that this is a very good, borderline great film. Horror in the High Desert is more found-footage adjacent rather than a straight-up conventional found-footage film. 

This film has elements of found-footage but it largely deviates from the standard found-footage formula that we have been accustomed to seeing. Three years after an outdoorsman disappeared, his friends discuss the events leading up to his vanishing and the horrifying result of his fate. In July 2017, an outdoor enthusiast went missing in northern Nevada. He was never located.
