Maddie and Abi (Caitlin Gerard) are twin sisters, and famously the only victims to ever escape the notorious serial killer known as The Mechanic (Kane Hodder). Years after their near escape, The Mechanic is finally scheduled to be executed for his horrific crimes, but what should be a moment of closure for the sisters ends up unleashing something far more insidious. As they try to leave behind the trauma of their experience, their connection to The Mechanic haunts them and begins to slowly take over their minds…

As Maddie explains to her therapist what happened in her past, her sister is breaking into the garage of The Mechanic and having visions of him. Before you know it, people start dying and the sisters are suspects, but the way that movie bounces between today and yesterday, reality and fantasy, it’s often hard to figure out exactly what’s going on. The idea of a tow truck driver who kills the people he’s supposed to help, much less one that uses the occult to bring the victims who escaped him into his mind, is a great one. If you’re hiring someone to play that killer, Kane Hodder is the perfect person. And that’s where the movie runs out of gas, sadly, when it’s where it should get started.

I could tell the writers did not know how to connect the dots in the very contrived plot they cobbled together. Between the occult practices, the waking dream, and the often idiotic actions of the protagonists, I think they realized it did not make sense. To fill in the gaps, they chose to go with shock value over storytelling. It is a common practice among horror filmmakers that if they cannot make the story connect, they all more gore and foul language with the hopes that the audience will ignore the plot holes, logic problems, and stupidity of the protagonists.
