Yoon Seo-ha (Kim Hyun-joo), a college lecturer, is surprised to learn that her long-forgotten paternal uncle has died, leaving her as the sole heir to the family's burial ground. This news brings back painful memories of her father who abandoned her and her mother. At the uncle's funeral, Seo-ha's half-brother, Kim Young-ho (Ryu Kyung-soo), demands inclusion in the inheritance. The situation triggers a series of ominous events, causing her immense unease. Meanwhile, police detective Choi Sung-jun (Park Hee-soon) discovers that the murder case is not a simple manslaughter case. He investigates the case, which is elusive and leads to many dead ends. Park Sang-min (Park Byung-eun), the chief inspector, disapproves of Sung-jun and excludes him from the case. However, his investigation, which focused on key persons surrounding the burial ground, leads nowhere. Another murder occurs, and the village is turned upside down.
After her uncle’s death, Yoon Seo-Ha (Kim Hyun-Joo) inherits their family gravesite from her late uncle. Since then, Yoon Seo-Ha gets involved with some inauspicious incidents. She has a younger step-brother, Kim Young-Ho (Ryu Kyung-Soo), who throws her into even more confusion.
Meanwhile, Detective Choi Sung-Jun (Park Hee-Soon) suspects the recent incidents that have taken place in the village are related to Yoon Seo-Ha’s family gravesite. He investigates further. At the police station, Choi Sung-Jun has an antagonistic relationship with Park Sang-Min (Park Byung-Eun). He is the chief of the detective squad where Choi Sung-Jun works. Due to a case that took place in the past, his boss holds a sense of inferiority and jealousy towards Choi Sung-Jun .
Kim Hyun-Joo plays Yoon Seo-Ha, who is a college instructor. She is not happy about her job. She inherits the family's gravesite after the sudden death of her uncle. However, the burial ground eventually becomes the center of several unexpected murders in the village, leading everyone to question Seo-Ha's arrival. Hyun-Joo is known for her roles in 'Hellbound 2', 'Undercover', and 'Watcher'.“The Bequeathed” is a Korean drama series released by Netflix on January 19, 2024. This short series consists of only six episodes. The story revolves around a woman who inherits a family gravesite from her estranged uncle, leading to a series of mysterious murders and the unveiling of hidden secrets.
