Howl opens with Alpha Trax train guard Joe Griffin (Ed Speleers) doing a shift on an overnight passenger train, which is scheduled to depart London at midnight. The regular guard, is sick. His only consolation is the chance to spend time with his unrequited love, the tea-trolley girl, Ellen (Holly Weston). A shot of the full moon is shown piecing through a heavy thunderstorm as the train travels.
Howl is a British independent horror film of the werewolf fiction subgenre.It was directed by Paul Hyett with a screenplay written by Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler.It was produced by Starchild Pictures and was first screened at Fantasy Filmfest in Germany on August 5th, 2015. It was first shown in the United Kingdom at Film4 FrightFest on August 31st, 2015.

It premiered in the United States at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival on October 3rd, 2015. The movie stars Ed Speleers as Joe Griffin - a security guard on a train bound for Eastborough. Unsatisfied with his career, he also earns the scorn of some of the passengers on the Alpha Trax red-eye; but Joe's troubles are nothing compared to what he has to deal with when a pack of werewolves attack the train at Thornton Forest.The film centers around the staff and passengers aboard a train which becomes stranded in Thornton Forest at night during a full moon.Cut off from the rest of the world, the passengers are forced to band together to survive when the train comes under attack by a group of vicious werewolves.Misery loves company, though.  Joe’s dog-eat-dog day of shuffling through his shift as a train car conductor/guard sees him making acrimonious acquaintances with a whole host of similarly sullen sods.

Cranky Kate hisses an insult when Joe makes her repay a misplaced ticket’s fare.  Causeless rebel Nina fires up a cigarette while her phone pumps out tunes in the smoke-free quiet zone.  Cocky Adrian licks lips with lust aimed at anyone in a skirt and high heels.  From chubby chowderhead to bespectacled bookworm, “Howl” assembles the usual assortment of “no two are alike” personalities one might expect from an “unlikely strangers forced to survive together” premise.A dark and remote forest is a good place to find trouble, yet the characters in Howl believe themselves to be safe. Their late-night journey by train typically passes through a long stretch of wilderness without incident, though that sense of security quickly wanes as an accident strands the skeleton crew and passengers in the middle of nowhere. And the only thing now standing between them and the dangers lurking in the nearby woods is a routinely mistreated train guard named Joe (Ed Speleers).
